We thoroughly enjoyed touring Monte Alban, near the city of Oaxaca. This city is built atop a mountain that was flattened to build the pyramids and other building. The Zapotecs began building this city in 500 BC and it prospered until about 800 AD when they chose to move to other areas in the valley below to places such as Mitla, where the Spanish found the descendants of this civilization. Amy is here atop one of the many pyramids of the site. We also climbed the one in the background.
